Impact Reporting Seminar at FACT Liverpool
On 6th October our Chief Executive, Matthew Lanham, took part in a prestigious seminar held at FACT in Liverpool organised by BW Mcfarlane Accountants and Weightmans Solicitors.
The purpose of the seminar was to give a first hand insight to a wide range of regional charities and other organisations, into the world of measuring Social Impact.
Matthew and NMC have 8 year's experience of Social Accounting to demonstrate the worth our work and the difference we make. NMC also advocates undertaking Social Audits to provide independent verification – again something we do every year.
Dr Adam Richards from the Social Return on Investment Network offered an alternative methodology. Sean Barrett from Shared Lives Plus chaired the event and posed a series of challenges to Matthew and Adam to help the audience understand the strengths of both methodologies and to make their own minds up about which was best for their organisation. There were voting consoles on each seat!!
We concluded that the key learning from the evening was the acknowledgement by all delegates that measuring your Social Impact is now something charities need to be working towards and prioritising. Whether it's Social Accounting and Audit or SROI - either will take your organisation on a route to greater confidence and success.
