NMC Chair of the Cheshire West Adult Social Care and Health Stakeholder Group

On the 7th May our Chief Executive, Matthew Lanham, chaired the influential "Stakeholder Group" meeting drawing together all those key people and organisations working to provide Adult Social Care and Health services across the borough. This group is made up of senior adult Social Care Officers and members, Senior representatives from West Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group and a myriad of fellow voluntary sector partners. With around 30 partners represented, this group is a key forum in the West of Cheshire with substantial influence over how a wide range of services are provided in the best collaborative way.

The Group is well established and has met with a Local Authority Chair for several years. This was the first time that a member of the voluntary sector had been asked to chair the meeting. Matthew said "this really is quite an honour for NMC and a great opportunity to raise the profile of the needs of those living with neuromuscular conditions in our immediate locality."
Matthew took this opportunity to begin a new discussion about the status and recognition given to Carers across the borough. There was considerable consensus that this should be a key focus and that over the course of 2014 we could work together to raise the profile and standing of those who are Carers in our communities.

We will keep you posted on next steps in terms of this work about Carers and anything else from Stakeholder Group that directly relates to those living with neuromuscular conditions in Cheshire West and Chester.
