NMC Open Day 2014
NMC opened its doors to welcome visitors on Thursday 19th June.
As always volunteers prepared a lovely lunch for our guests. Visitors enjoyed touring the whole Centre and finding out about NMC's work.
People were able to meet many of our patients and service users and chatting about their experiences of life before and after becoming part of our NMC "family".
Among our guests were Charitable Trust funders and many of our tireless fundraising supporters. We also were delighted to welcome senior representatives from the NHS – both Hospital based staff and Clinical Commissioning Group leaders. We were delighted to see so many local Councillors and of course Mayors from across the region in their regalia!
We were also able to take time with Senior Officers from local authorities to show how impactful our work is with Carers and in terms of our Early Intervention and Prevention work – crisis prevention in other words.
We also had visitors from local firms who were keen to see the difference their sponsorship or staff volunteering had made to our work.
Visitors were all wowed by the transformation of the NMC site over the last 12 months – the completion of our superb accessible boardwalk, the new Retreat building and meadow area. They were also able to chat with members of our active Shed Club – a group designed to enable male Carers in particular to find friendship and support with others in much the same position.
Thank you to all who took the time and trouble to visit us and really learn about our extraordinary work "up close and personal". And of course thanks the fabulous army of NMC volunteers who make such an event possible.
