NMC sharing expertise at Queen Square, London

Lynne Groves, Senior NMC Physiotherapist and Matthew Lanham CEO visited the team and facilities at this specialist London Neurology and Neuromuscular treatment hospital. The hospital is linked with the University College London Institute of Neurology and so represents a national centre of excellence in the assessment and treatment of those living with neuromuscular conditions.

Lynne and Matthew met up with NMC Trustee, Dr Ros Quinlivan for a tour of the brand new NMCCC (Neuromuscular Complex Care Centre). This purpose built 6 bedded assessment unit represents a huge leap forward in the provision of specialist, appropriately equipped and fully accessible facilities for patients with neuromuscular conditions.

We were delighted to see some very familiar pieces of equipment and design layouts – the design team had been up to NMC to learn from us what really works with this patient group and clearly used our learning and experience in their new design.

We met many of the team working in the centre. It had a warm and informal atmosphere and we were pleased to see Carers being afforded space and being really involved in the process.

Many of the team at Queen Square are planning a return visit to NMC in early July.
