People’s Postcode Lottery supports people with muscular dystrophy
The Neuromuscular Centre has received a funding boost thanks to players of a charity lottery.
NMC was awarded £7,205 by People's Postcode Trust, a grant-giving charity, funded entirely by players of People's Postcode Lottery.
The organisation will use the money to run activities for carers in a newly constructed retreat. The project will enable those caring for people with muscular dystrophy living in Cheshire and the surrounding areas. 75% of NMC carers (who are providing care and support for adults with the progressive muscle wasting condition md) tell us that the only regular break they receive is from NMC. 53% of NMC carers report that their caring role has increased during the last 12 months. The new Retreat will provide a resource for carers to use for group activities and for one to one sessions with our Support Worker.
People's Postcode Lottery is a charity lottery, where players play with their postcodes to win cash prizes while raising money for good causes. As a charity lottery, 50p from every £2 ticket goes to support charities and good causes across England, Scotland and Wales, including People's Postcode Trust. People's Postcode Lottery believes in supporting local communities so the money raised stays local to players.
