Graphic Design

NCFE Level 1 certificate in Graphic Design

This is a recognised qualification ideal for learners who wish to undertake an introductory course in graphic design.

It will enable students to learn and then demonstrate:

  • They are proficient in all the industry standard software packages used in a
    Graphic Design business
    - Adobe Photoshop
    - Adobe Illustrator
  • Basic graphic design techniques
  • Gain an underpinning knowledge of graphic design processes and principles
  • Complete a variety of exciting and interesting projects as part of the training

Duration: approx. 6 to 12 months


NCFE Level 2 certificate in Graphic Design (Only for students up to 18)

The qualification aims to extend candidates' existing graphic design skills and knowledge of the graphic design process, principles & techniques.
Students will plan and produce a wide range of design projects that will further develop their knowledge in layout design.

Duration: approx. 6 to 12 months


Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Graphic Design (QCF)

An advanced level course for students who already have successfully completed a qualification in Graphic Design. The qualification requires the learner to complete 6 units in which they produce work using a mixture of traditional and digital techniques/processes. The type of designs you will produce include typeface design, magazine spreads, digital self portraits and CD covers.

During the two years, the work you produce within the units will give you the opportunity to improve your graphic skills, develop your use of appropriate materials, techniques + processes, learn how to use the design process, find out how to generate ideas and concepts and then how to visually communicate them to specific audiences.
