This year, four members of staff from The Neuromuscular will be taking part in the Scally Rally - Road to Rimini race, from 12-15th September. There will be Leanne (Events manager), Nick (Physiotherapist), Dee (Design Training co-ordinator) and Ben (Operations manager and centre user). This is a fantastic road race across Europe with 100 teams taking part. We are only allowed to spend £100 on our car, so we may yet be in shed on wheels!

We are asking local companies to support us and sponsor our team by 'buying' an advert space for just £250 on our car. We would need your logo to produce a car sticker. In order for us to take advantage of this massive PR and fundraising opportunity, we need to be able to cover the costs of the trip in its entirety, this includes; car purchase, MOT, insurance, alterations, petrol, food, and return flights. We will be then asking individuals and companies to sponsor us to complete the race via our justgiving website, where there will be updates on our car, thank-you's to our sponsors and our running total. There are also 1st 2nd and 3rd cash prizes for the winners of the race, and we are indeed,

"in it to win it!" There will also, hopefully, be major TV press coverage on Granada, and we are offering ourselves up for interviews galore!

This is a brand new and exciting event for the centre and we don't want to miss out on the chance to spread the name and fantastic work here at the NMC. We are a small fish in a big charity pond, but our work is completely unique and we exist as the only centre of its kind in the UK, Europe, and as far as we know, the world!

Thursday 11th Sept - All set and ready to go, Team NMC get a Good Luck send off outside the centre

We made it to St Omer and we woke to the most miserable weather but all congregated in a hypermarket carpark to meet the other rally teams and check out their bangers until the starting horn was blasted. Quick fill up of water for our Rhonda!
Aah the sun came out for a little while at a service station en route
oh, there are the 3000ft mountains, I didn't see them
Icy hills in the distance signal the start of the struggle for Rhonda
Rhonda's smoking!!!!
We got to the top of the Grimsel Pass and couldn't believe the freak weather had dealt us snow! Heh ho, its all adds to the fun!
Time for a nice Hot Chocolate
"We are going here, see on the map!"
A view of the infamous Stelvio Pass (as seen on Top Gear, but in a nicer car)
A quick break to sort out Rhonda who overheated at the first sign of an incline, "Come on rhonda, its only 3000ft!"
Them hills look snowy!
We finally reached the top of Stelvio for a snowball fight.
A hot chocolate for Ben and Leanne, but Nick undeterred by the snow, decided to try out his flip flops and shorts. Any excuse to get naked in public!
We finally left the snow behind to carry on through Cortina and the Dolomite mountains, to a lovely boat trip around Venice.
We arrive in Rimini in the rain. "Smile Nick, we made it!"
The morning of our departure home and a row of knackered rally cars lined the streets of Rimini.
Just a quick chance to nip to the beach for a celebratory photo opportunity.
Hooray, we made it!, Thank-you to all our amazing sponsors and kind supporters who donated to the rally. Scally Rally Road to Rimini 2008 done!
