Stephen O'Brien, MP for Eddisbury, launched the NeuroMuscular Centre's new Home Study and Home Working Project. This unique initiative is designed to provide access to education and employment for people with muscle disease. Funding for this project has been provided by Bank of America and the Morgan Foundation.

At the launch event, held at the NeuroMuscular Centre in Winsford, the students discussed their experiences and hopes for the project along with an example of live tutorial via webcam. Alo the centre's graphic design and print company, NMC Design+Print, showcased its current projects.

Launching the project, Shadow Minister for Health and MP for Eddisbury, Stephen O'Brien, said:

"I am delighted to be launching this Home Study and Home Working project which will offer people with muscle disease, from all across the country, the opportunity to gain greater independence and future employment.
"The NeuroMuscular Centre in my constituency is unique in that it is the only centre in the UK which provides training, treatment and employment for people with muscle disease. I am very proud of all that happens and is achieved here - by both the staff and the Centre's users"

Matthew Lanham, Executive Director of the NeuroMuscular Centre said:

"We are thrilled to be able to turn this long time ambition of home study and working into a reality. I hope that with this new programme we will be able to extend our services to hundreds of people who have difficulty in travelling far and wide for training, something which so many of us take for granted.
"We wouldn't have been able to achieve this without the support of our two funders, Bank of America and Morgan Foundation, and I would like to extend my thanks to them both."

Annette M Barnes, Bank of America, said:

"We are pleased to be supporting this ground breaking initiative. Providing this most deserving audience with both the skills and the technology to work independently from home will deliver numerous benefits to both the individuals concerned and the economy as a whole."
