Our Therapies team consists of specialist neuromuscular physiotherapists that provide assessment, treatment and advice for people with a neuromuscular condition.

 

Head of Therapies is Sandie Wilson, who joined us in 2018 having worked for the NHS for 38 years as an Occupational Therapist.

We offer a range of unique and specialist services, free of charge, upon referral from your GP or Consultant. These services include Physiotherapy, Hydrotherapy, Complementary Therapy, exercise within our Neuromuscular Gym and more.

Our Therapies Team has also formed an exciting partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University’s Department of Exercise and Sports Science, collaborating on groundbreaking research into the effects of physiotherapy, exercise and diet on people with neuromuscular conditions.

We have a Therapies team of 12, including 5 Specialist Neuromuscular Physiotherapists, 4 Therapy Assistants and a Complementary Therapist. 

All our qualified staff are HCPC registered and members of their own professional society / associations.

Accessible Gym

Our fantastic accessible gym opened in summer 2017.

It is the first of its kind in the whole of the UK and mainland Europe and has a wide range of equipment to suit all abilities.

Complementary Therapy

Complementary Therapy is offered at the NMC on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The therapies currently practiced include Aromatherapy, Body Massage, Reflexology and Manual Lymphatic Drainage. 

NMC is the only place in the country where a person with a neuromuscular condition can receive regular ongoing specialist physiotherapy
