DofE Presentation and Lord Lieutenant's visit to NMC

Monday 28th February was an incredibly special day at NMC, in which all our Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme team came together to put on a presentation about their experiences and achievements in front of an audience of 25, which included family, friends, carers and supporters of the scheme. The presentation was also live streamed to our Facebook page to allow those who were unable to attend to watch from home and feel part of the experience.

Also in attendance were two very special guests – Lady Alexis Redmond MBE DL and her husband Phil Redmond. Lady Alexis Redmond is the new Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire, having taken over from Mr David Briggs CVO MBE, and this was her first visit to NMC. Alexis is a chartered accountant, enjoying many years in the profession before going on to establish one of the largest independent TV production companies in the UK with her husband Phil, who is well-known as the creator of programmes including Brookside, Hollyoaks and Grange Hill.

The day provided a wonderful introduction to NMC, with the opportunity to meet and chat with our inspirational young people over afternoon tea, followed by a tour of the Centre with Matthew Lanham OBE and the chance to meet many of our staff team and volunteers.

Huge thanks to everyone involved, especially our young community for their fantastic presentation. If you would like to find out more about NMC’s Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, please contact our Young Persons Coach Lorraine Woolley: Lorraine.woolley@nmcentre.com
